HIGH IMPACT

PUSH

When you push an object it moves away from you.

PULL
When you pull an object you make it move toward you.

FORCE
A force makes things move and go fast, slow down and change direction.

UNBALANCED FORCES

Unbalanced forces will make an object want to move or accelerate away

                                   ACCELERATE

If we apply force to a moving object we can get it to move faster we get it to accelerate

                              FRICTION

Friction is the force produced between two surfaces as they rub against each other friction slows objects down or makes them stop.

AIR RESISTANCE

Air resistance  slows things down as they travel through air . is is because air contains millions and millions of molecules that try to block the way, think of how hard it is to walk or even run through water waste deep

BALANCED FORCES

When an object is balanced it will stay still or keep moving in the same direction. An example is when people of exactly the same size or weight are on a see-saw they will not move unless extra force is applied.

POTENTIAL ENERGY
This is the stored energy of an object in relation to its position compared with other objects. If it is up high and is dropped or pushed it will be pulled down by earth's gravitational force.

MOTION
This is a change in an object's position over a period of time. It is described in terms of displacement, distance, speed, acceleration and velocity.

This is about how much stuff or  is in an object. It is not the same as weight as, for example, an object on the Moon would weigh less because of lower gravitational forces but it would the same mass.

GRAVITY
This is the force which pulls or attracts objects to the centre of the earth.

  1. Wow! Good work Nathan. You have explained these terms really well. I liked your range of DLOs. I hope you didn't hurt Mrs Dunbar when you made those videos!
