Boomerang

Earlier this week me and my class started to research on boomerangs and why the aboriginals used dots instead of lines or painting it just in one color Today me and my class went out to the field with our boomerangs and we split the class into half and took turns flying the boomerangs and my boomerang flew to the soccer post and touched the ground. and other boomerangs went way past mine because they put more power into there throwing and I put some power into my throwing for the boomerang. My boomerang was red on one side and a crocodile on the other side but I messed the crocodile up and painted over it red so now my boomerang is red on both sides.

Children of blood and bone chapter 23

Metal gates fly open on the sides of the arena floor, and an endless flow of water rushes in. This has to be a mirage. Yet liter after liter flows in. The water covers the metal ground, crashing with the expanse of a sea.
“How is this possible?” I hiss under my breath, remembering the laborers no more than skin and bone. So many dying for water and they waste it on this?

This can be compared to today's boat races because teams line up at the start and then they race down to the other end and try to bet the other teams and come first and at the end of the race the team that comes first gets gold medals and 2nd gets silver and 3rd gets bronze medals. After each team says good race and then walks away.

Children of blood and bone chapter 22

I pause for a moment, aghast at the number of them filling the narrow path. Before today, I caught only glimpses of the laborers brought in to staff the palace—always pleasant, clean, groomed to Mother’s satisfaction. Like Binta, I thought they lived simple lives, safe within the palace walls. I never considered where they came from, where else they might have ended up,
“Skies…” It’s almost too hard to bear the sight. Mostly, diviners, the laborers outnumber the villagers by hordes, dressed in nothing but tattered rags. Their dark skin blisters under the scorching sun, marred by the dirt and sand seemingly burned into their beings. Each is hardly more than a walking skeleton.

This could be compared to the real world because this could be real in some countries. or the movie called the power of one. In the power of one film, there is a boy called P.K and he learns how to be a fighter in a country which has bad housing and only one toilet for every 200 people and P.K has a friend living in the country called Giel Piet.

Testing for Carbon Dioxide Gas

Aim To show that carbon dioxide gas is produced when a metal carbonate reacts with the acid

Equipment Two boiling tubes, Delivery tube, and bung, lighter, Test tube rack, Wooden splint, A bottle of acid, Small amount of metal carbonate, Test tube tongs, Safety glasses

Method

1 Light you're lighter.
2 Add a pea-sized amount of the metal carbonate into one of the boilings tubes
3 Place this boiling tube into a test tube rack. Ensure you have the bung and delivery tube ready
4 Add 5ml of acid to the boiling tube and quickly insert the bung and delivery tube into the mouth of the boiling tube
5 Holding the other boiling tube with your tongs, capture the gas produced
6 When you think the tube is full, your lab partner should light a wooden splint
7Carefully remove the boiling tube from under the delivery tube, taking care to keep it facing upright
8 insert the burning splint into the mouth of the test tube.

observations

When the burning splint was put into the mouth of the boiling tube the flame instantly went out

Metals and Acids

Testing for Hydrogen Gas

Aim To show that hydrogen gas is produced when a metal reacts with acid.

Equipment Two test tube, wooden splint,Safety glasses and lighter

Method

add your sample of metal to your test tube add 2 ml of acid

Carefully invert the boiling tube above the test tube containing the metal and acid

Hold the test tubes together for a few minutes allowing time for the inverted boiling tube to fill with gas

When you think the tube is full your lab partner should light a wooden splint

Carefully but quickly tilt the boiling tube of gas upwards and insert the burning splint into the mouth of the test tube

Observations When we put the burning splint into the boiling tube the flame made the gas come out with a popping sound
